You have a problem to solve or an idea to develop. We explore possible solutions before you commit to a product architecture.
Discuss your requirementsTechnical insight
A useful idea starts with the right question.
An appealing solution can hide the actual need early in a project. Describing the user’s action, the environment and the expected result opens up several technical options. These can then be compared against clear criteria before investing time in CAD.
| Define | Why it matters | The question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Use | A mechanism’s design depends on who uses it and how often it is used. | Which action causes difficulty, when and under what conditions? |
| Function | A function describes what the product must accomplish and keeps the technical solution open. | What must the product do, and how will success be measured? |
| Trade-offs | Space, cost, maintenance and manufacturing can favour different architectures. | Which criterion takes priority, and what needs checking first? |
Takeaway
For example, “open with one hand while wearing gloves” defines a function to explore. A lever, latch or another mechanism can then be compared against the same need.

A challenge, a real project
Filter Carafe
A mechanism that measures the water actually filtered.
The filter carafe needed to indicate when its cartridge should be replaced. DOMTEKNIKA developed the complete product and an economical mechanism for counting water volume. The project connects concept exploration, everyday use and integration into a physical product.
View projectWhen to involve us
Turn an open problem into technical options you can compare.
- Explore an idea without a defined technical solution
- Rethink an existing product or mechanism
- Choose an architecture before development
Our approach
We start with use, required functions, cost, space and manufacturing constraints. Concept exploration connects mechanics, materials and integration to identify feasible options.
Frame the problem
Clarify use, functions and constraints.
Explore options
Connect mechanical principles, materials and manufacturing.
Choose the next step
Compare concepts and identify the priority checks.
What you receive
- Requirements and constraints summary
- Concepts and operating principles
- Options comparison and verification plan
Options are compared by their strengths, limitations and outstanding questions. The aim is to choose a direction and prepare the first validation work.
We agree the scope, tests and deliverables with you before work begins.
Practical questions.
Do we need a specification first?
No. A description of the problem, intended use and known constraints is enough to start structuring your requirements.
Does this stage include a prototype?
It can lead to a proof of concept. Its construction and validation points depend on the uncertainties to resolve.
For our first conversation
.Which idea would you like to develop?
Tell us how the product will be used and which problem it needs to solve. We can explore the most relevant concepts and define the first checks.
- Your objective and how the product will be used
- What you already have: an idea, drawings or a prototype
- Your technical constraints and target date
Your information is treated confidentially.
